Pregnancy Stress

How can we manage stress during our pregnancy? Stress can come in many forms and from a variety of situations. We know that stress can create disease and impairs our immune system, so how can we lessen its effects during pregnancy?

In the 1st trimester, we are often under stress physically, with nausea and fatigue, and emotionally we may have anxiety about whether the pregnancy will go the distance. If you've suffered losses before, you may be feeling quite anxious.

There are essential oils that can help with digestive support, and helping to get great sleep, and and for sore muscles, that I believe are safe to take during pregnancy. You can contact me for more details. I do hold free 'Essential Oils for Pregnancy and Babies' meetings (contact me for details, or see the events page)

Often friends and family and even our caregivers (OBGYNS & Midwives) can cue up stress by bringing up *what ifs* that are negative in nature. I recommend paying attention to how you and your body responds when this happens and then releasing it at a later time. For example: A midwife said to me, "You will tear, you are a primip (primiparous - meaning 1st birth) look up the stats". Make no mistake, your body is listening at all times. I knew many women that did *not* tear with their first birth, but I knew how important it was to clear this, as it was said to me by a person in an authoritative position, which meant that my brain gave it more weight than I would have liked. So how do you clear negative cues? I can help you with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and ACE (Advanced Clearing Energetics).

Sessions are offered over skype, and I offer short and full sessions.

Another avenue I highly recommend during pregnancy is to surround yourself with as many positive people as possible. I recommend the Positive Birth Groups. There is one in Ottawa hosted by Dr. Nancy Salgueiro at Marketplace Chiropractic (In Barrhaven) Meetings are usually held the last Wednesday of the month. You can also join the Pregnant In Ottawa Facebook Group, to get great support as well.
